A Certified Nursing Assistant or CNA possesses necessary skills for the fast recovery of the patient. CNA works under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse at hospitals or patient care centers. If you want to become a CNA, check the following tips on how to be a successful one.

    1.) Academic Completion

In the State of Florida, you are able to enroll in a CNA program without having a High school diploma. With successful completion of the course, students will be prepared for the PROMETRIC State Exam. PROMETRIC is a trusted test development and delivery provider to more than 350 organizations worldwide.

2.) Follow Facility and Employment Rules

If you just started a new job, it’s a must to know the rules and policies. A Well trained CNA is an individual who follows the instructed rules and if unsure, always ask to be sure that he/she is doing is the right thing.

    3.) Good Communication Skills

As a CNA, you will be communicating with patients, their family members, other nurses and doctors on a daily basis, so good interaction skills is a must have. Having the ability to receive and interpret messages can surely increase the possibility of the patient being fulfilled with your service. Take the time to talk to them when you are able and always be gracious and respectful.

    4.) Be Gentle

Move them gently, speak and touch them softly, always keep things around them as pleasant as possible for improving your patient’s recovery and comfort.

    5.) Be Patient

Sometimes the patients will make you pass through stressful situations. We encourage you to stay calm and steady. Eventually the patient will treat you better when they notice your professional approach.

    6.) Learn to Prioritize

Learning to prioritize will help you be more productive at work, especially in healthcare industry where several things have to be done at the same time. Weigh the importance or urgency of your tasks to know what should be done first.

    7.) Easy Going and Flexible

Working in a health care facility demands a nurse aide to work at night, weekends or even during holidays, you must remain flexible to work at anytime and in any shift. Always with a good attitude.

    8.) Empathize with Patient.

Putting yourself in the shoes of others is the best way to empathize. This trait makes a great CNA provide better care to their patients.
